Semester Article

Note: There might have been a technical error, but I did not receive the article from Subhana that was meant to be featured on my cover slide. However, I completed and sent my article about her as required.

Student Interviewer: Derick Adjei

Interview 1: Gianna Hunt

Gianna’s freshman year was filled with new and exciting experiences. One of the things she’s most
proud of achieving this semester is developing her screenwriting skills and becoming more
acclimated with the artform. She said that she’s mostly proud of this because of how she nailed down
the format, which came as a shock to her due to this being her first time writing this way. Because of
this, she nows feels more confident in her ability to write compelling narratives that resonate with
audiences. She also mentioned how she learned many new things about poetry, which she appreciated due to her not knowing much about it before and being unfamiliar with the rules or guidelines surrounding it. While learning about it, one thing she struggled with the most was experiencing writer’s block, but managed to overcome it through the gathering of ideas and remerged with a new realization for how unique writing is for everyone. When it comes to other aspects of school, Gianna has gained many new skills that contributed to her overall experience. Within the classroom, she became more active amongst her peers by participating in craft talks and group discussions, which she says has widened her perspectives. Outside of class, she developed new and effective time management skills by planning ahead and completing assignments early. All of these personal developments have made her to be a seemingly well rounded individual with a good work ethic. She also reflected on some memories from earlier on in the year, with one that stood out to her being her first day on campus, due to her being very nervous and intimidated by the new environment. When asked what she would tell her past self, having the knowledge she has now, she said she would advise herself to not get nervous and or stress herself out. Her experiences throughout her freshman year tend to make their into her writing and serve as a good source of inspiration, making her work feel very relatable and emotionally resonant. All in all, Gianna has developed a new understanding for the art of writing, as she realized how it relies heavily on revision and consistency. With this in her mind, her goals for the future are to keep growing her skills and trying to the best of her abilities. Based on her growth throughout the semester and her desired goals that she wishes to reach, she seems like a capable and hard working student
who’s able to adapt to new situations and emerge from them with a better understanding and stronger
work ethic.
